I believe I'll get there too, I'm excited about the possibilities! This week I've completely rejigged my workflow and focus tools and I'm making good progress on more side projects.
YouTube ... sigh.
I can't tell if it really pay off in the end or I'm just falling for the sunk cost fallacy after I spent a lot of time and effort getting it monetized.
Here's the thing: I could make videos every week about writing here and do product reviews and do pretty well at it.
And I will say it's been beneficial to be able to embed my own videos in my own stories.
But ultimately I worry it'll be like, a job, without the monster payoff.
And YouTube is a lot more effort for me than writing - and for a comparatively minuscule return.
I enjoy editing ... I don't love filming.
So I guess the short answer is ... I'm still not sure.
I'm going to experiment with a second channel quietly and draw on the significant social media following I have from a previous career and see what happens.
The main channel is kind of up in the air. At worst, even if I posted 1 video a month it would still bring in some money.
