Make sure you do this one thing or you’ll struggle to stay fit after 40

Whether I’m discussing building a business or staying fit, there’s one point I harp on constantly.

And I will continue to do so.

The hardest part of building any good habit is at the start.

If it’s writing, it’s getting something on that blank page.

If it’s exercise, it could be as little as walking on the treadmill every day.

Once you start, it’s easy to keep going a little longer.

And when you start every day, it gets a lot easier to maintain a good habit over time.

That’s because massive victories are the result of small wins every single day.

Inconsistency after 40

The problem with frequent stops and starts when you’re over 40 is that you may be tempted to go as hard as you did before the long layoff.

This is a recipe for disaster if you ask me.

The older your body gets, the more gradual you need to be when starting to exercise.

And it’s much easier to just keep going at a nice, easy pace after you’ve already begun and built some strength and endurance than it is to quit and have to start over from Square 1 all the time.

As author Darren Hardy puts it in my favorite self-improvement book, think of getting a merry-go-round going when you were a kid.
